Heating

Radiator cold at the top?

The pattern of cold spots can help explain a heating problem.

01

A radiator that is warm at the bottom and cooler at the top may contain trapped air. A different pattern can have a different cause, so note which part stays cold and whether other radiators are affected.

02

If you choose to follow your manufacturer’s radiator-bleeding instructions, turn off the heating and let it cool fully first. Never loosen a fitting on a hot radiator or remove a valve.

03

If you are unsure, see a leak or the problem returns, ask for help. Let the engineer know whether the boiler pressure has changed as well.
